Reload

I rebuilt the playground game Reload as a live camera duel to get hands-on experience with computer vision for my flagship project, Swim Vision. Hold finger guns, a block, or a reload for two seconds; the CPU answers from a state table.

What it is

Reload is a local webcam-vs-CPU remake of the playground game I grew up playing (Reload / 007): reload, shoot, or block, and neither side sees the other move until both lock in. I built it as a complete, playable computer-vision app to get practice with a live camera, landmarks, noisy poses, and a real HUD before diving into Swim Vision, my flagship project. Reload was a fun and nostalgic learning build.

How it works

You face the webcam and hold a pose for two seconds to lock in your move. MediaPipe Hands and Pose track your hands and shoulders, while OpenCV displays a mirrored view of you alongside the CPU opponent. Moves like shoot, block, and reload are recognized using the geometry of your body landmarks, with safeguards to prevent a single bad frame from registering the wrong move. The CPU opponent only knows the current game state, such as ammo and shields, and chooses its move from a weighted strategy table.
